Color and geometry
the team struggled selecting the style to be used, but we knew one thing, vibrant colors and geometric shapes should to be used. the concept development came in consequence from the first illustrator ideas, the team had Jorsh peña working hard, we loved the result and immediattly adopt his concept. after a while we decided to go to the next level and mix the style while keeping the original concept
shader and texture
during the process we tried different styles from flat coloring to full shading but always keeping the concept in mind. the blending of styles from 3 different artists gave us the final result.
lights and shadows
at the end mixing the full shading with the flat work we got the final result, adding fine grainy textures, soft shadows and glowing colors. so even if the actual gameplay is not going to use the same artstyle on each world, we will adopt this style as our trademark, and make the storytelling unique and colorful for everbody using our art.
all the artists involved are close friends, not all of them are professional illustrators or graphic designers, regardless they are related to art, our main character designer is a tattoo artist and the art director is an architect, however this mixture of professions and passion for graphics provides coming home a vibrant colorful and unique art style
